THese are the top 10 rookies.

1. Emeka Okafor, F-C, Charlotte (No. 2)
Stats: 15.1 PPG, 11.0 RPG, 0.9 (27.0 PRA)
Upcoming: vs. Phil. (1/19), vs. Dal. (1/21), at Tor. (1/23)
Breakdown: After a stellar 19-game double-double streak earlier in the season, we're reminded that Okafor is still in his rookie season. Posted only four points in an eight-point loss at Atlanta and only six points in a two point defeat at Cleveland. The silver lining: Okafor bounced back from his sub-par performances each time to record yet another double-double.

2. Dwight Howard, F, Orlando (No. 1)
Stats: 10.3 PPG, 9.8 RPG, 1.1 APG (21.2 PRA)
Upcoming: vs. Det (1/18), vs. Hou. (1/20), vs. Phil. (1/22)
Breakdown: Howard remains one of the more consistent rookies in the league this season, however his numbers dipped slightly this week as the Magic went 2-2. Howard is averaging 9.5 points and 7.5 rebounds over his last four.

3. Luol Deng, G-F, Chicago (No. 7)
Stats: 13.0 PPG, 5.6 RPG, 2.5 APG (21.1 PRA)
Upcoming: at Bos. (1/19), vs. Atl. (1/21), at Det. (1/22)
Breakdown: No longer the top rookie scorer on this surprising Bulls team thanks to the offensive explosion of Ben Gordon, he keeps ahead of Gordon in the rankings by virtue of rebounds and assists. An ankle sprain suffered in practice on Sunday does not appear as though it will slow the first-year player out of Duke.

4. Ben Gordon, G, Chicago (No. 3)
Stats: 13.6 PPG, 2.4 RPG, 1.8 APG (17.8 PRA)
Upcoming: at Bos. (1/19), vs. Atl. (1/21), at Det. (1/22)
Breakdown: A game-winning driving floater at the buzzer in Madison Square Garden on Monday prompted courtside-resident Spike Lee to praise Chicago's spark off the bench. "That Ben Gordon is one hell of a player," Lee said, "and the Bulls really have a dynamite young team." Gordon is averaging 21.3 points on 50 percent from the field over the last three Chicago victories.

5. Andre Iguodala, F, Philadelphia (No. 9)
Stats: 9.0 PPG, 5.8 RPG, 2.8 APG (17.6 PRA)
Upcoming: at Cha. (1/19), at Orl. (1/22)
Breakdown: Iguodala, who turns 21 on Jan. 28, is the only Sixer to have started every game this season. Look for Iguodala to put up double-digit scoring in games where he logs 30-plus minutes. Averaging 11.8 points and 7.6 rebounds over the last five.

6. Josh Smith, F, Atlanta Hawks (No. 17)
Stats: 7.7 PPG, 5.0 RPG, 1.6 APG (14.3 PRA)
Upcoming: at Mia. (1/19), at Chi. (1/21), vs. Bos. (1/22)
Breakdown: Rookies are expected to be up and down, none more so than the high-flying Smith. Not known as a scoring threat in Atlanta, Smith reeled off four straight double-figure games in January. Smith is averaging 8.8 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.5 blocks over the last four games -- a stretch including two of the Hawks seven victories on the season.

7. Nenad Krstic, F-C, New Jersey (No. 24, 2002)
Stats: 7.1 PPG, 4.3 RPG, 1.0 APG (12.4 PRA)
Upcoming: vs. Mil. (1/19), vs. Bos. (1/21), at Pho. (1/23)
Breakdown: With Richard Jefferson out for the season, the Nets were in search of somebody, anybody, who could help in the points category. Krstic has stepped up, averaging 12.5 points on 51.3 percent shooting over the four games minus Jefferson.

8. Al Jefferson, F, Boston (No. 15)
Stats: 6.8 PPG, 4.7 RPG, 0.2 APG (11.7 PRA)
Upcoming: vs. Chi. (1/19), at N.J. (1/21), at Atl. (1/22)
Breakdown: Has seen his minutes drop off a little recently, however Jefferson remains productive in limited action. In Boston's victories last week over Atlanta and Orlando, Jefferson averaged 10.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in 15.5 minutes of action.

9. J.R. Smith, F, New Orleans (No. 18)
Stats: 5.0 PPG, 1.3 RPG, 1.1 APG (7.4 PRA)
Upcoming: vs. Ind. (1/19), vs. L.A. Clippers (1/22), at Mia. (1/23)
Breakdown: Smith has averaged 9.5 points on .404 shooting in 28.7 minutes since being inserted in the starting lineup on Dec. 27. Coincidentally, the Hornets have picked up three of their five wins with Smith as a starter.

10. Sasha Vujacic, G, L.A. Lakers (No. 27)
Stats: 3.7 PPG, 1.9 RPG, 1.0 APG (6.6 PRA)
Upcoming: vs. Min. (1/19), vs. G.S. (1/21)
Breakdown: Vujacic has been thrust into the starting lineup in Los Angeles, filling in for Kobe Bryant, who was placed on the injured list on Jan. 15. Is averaging 7.0 points and 3.3 rebounds in 24.0 minutes over the last three games.
